Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been charged by the Soccer Affiliation over a publish on social media about coronavirus.
Alli, 23, put a video on Snapchat by which he joked concerning the outbreak and appeared to mock an Asian man.
He later deleted the publish and launched a brand new video on Chinese language social media platform Weibo to apologise, saying: “I let myself down and the membership.”
He has been charged with misconduct for an aggravated breach of FA Rule E3.
In a press release English soccer’s governing physique mentioned: “It’s alleged that his publish breaches FA Rule E3(1) because it was insulting and/or improper and/or introduced the sport into disrepute.
“It’s additional alleged that the publish constitutes an aggravated breach, which is outlined in FA Rule E3(2), because it included a reference, whether or not categorical or implied, to race and/or color and/or ethnic origin and/or nationality.”
He has till Thursday, 5 March 2020 to supply a response.
